About The Addiction Prevention Coalition
The Addiction Prevention Coalition (APC) is a nonprofit based in Birmingham, Alabama, dedicated to preventing substance use disorders through education, awareness, and community support. APC provides prevention programs, family support groups, and youth initiatives. The organization works to reduce stigma, connect individuals to resources, and promote long-term recovery.
Position Overview
The Project Coordinator is a part-time (15 hours per week) position and will be instrumental in the successful implementation and management of the Reading, Writing, and Recovering (RWR) program, a trauma-informed, criminal justice-focused initiative designed to provide holistic recovery support services for individuals impacted by substance use disorders (SUD), particularly opioid and stimulant use disorders.
The program features professional and creative writing workshops that empower participants with self-expression, career readiness skills, and emotional healing through writing exercises. The ideal candidate will be an ADMH Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) with experience in program coordination, data collection, and trauma-informed care.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist with the program, ensuring the smooth execution of workshops, events, and activities
· Assist with developing and maintaining program materials, resources, and outreach activities
· Serve as a liaison between The Keystone Club, the Addiction Prevention Coalition (APC), and other key partners
· Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness by collecting data on participant progress and outcomes
· Assist with preparing reports that demonstrate the impact of the program
· Assist with overseeing the program budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and compliance with grant guidelines
· Ensure all program activities align with the mission of the associated organization and relevant regulations and policies.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
· ADMH Certified Recovery Support Specialist (preferred) or relevant experience in recovery services
· If not currently certified, willing to become certified
· Experience in program coordination
· Understanding of trauma-informed care principles and recovery support services
· Experience with data collection, program evaluation, and grant reporting
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
· Computer proficient in Microsoft Office and Google applications
Preferred Experience
· Experience working with justice-involved individuals and those affected by opioid or stimulant use disorders
· Knowledge of professional and creative writing as therapeutic tools
· Experience in community outreach
Compensation & Benefits
